Pasta Pete's Cranberry Jello Dish

So OK, this is like a dessert dish or maybe an ancillary dish to offset the blah taste of plain old cranberries

Ingredients:

  • One carton of Black Cherry Jello
  • One can of Ocean Spray Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce (Do Not use the Jellied form)
  • 1/2 Tub of Eatra Rich Cool Whip Topping
  • 1/2 Tub of Philadelphia Brand Whipped Cream Cheese
  • An 8 oounce package of Chopped Walnuts

There are several stages to fabricating this dessert/adjunct dish and the first is to prepare the Jello. Now this part may seem unconventional but this works well. I use a recyclable 8 inch square aluminum pan as the carrier device for the dish. Start by opening the can of whole berry cranberries sauce and spread over the bottom of the pan.

Next take the powdered Jello mixture and using a large spoon thoroughly blend the Jello with the cranberry sauce.

Once this is all blended then add two cups of boiling water. I use a pyrex measuring cup and pop that in the microwave for 5 minutes. Add the boiling water and stir the Jello and Whole Cranberry Sauce.

Place in the refrigerator and let it set (harden) for at least 24 hours. What is nice about this -- you can make this part up to two days in advance.

The topping is made using 1/2 a tub of the Cool Whip (softened) and 1/2 a tub of the Whipped Cream Cheese. The final touch is the adding of chopped walnuts. You can do this like several hours before serving and place back in the refrigerator.

You are supposed to eat this with Turkey but most folks throw out the Turkey and eat the Jello!
